“Bomb”
One of my first ceramic works. It came to my mind when I heard that poorly prepared pieces can explode in the kiln.I made a cartoon-style bomb—hollow inside and without the hole necessary for firing.
Then I tried to “sneak” it into one of the public kilns in Jingdezhen.
Each owner refused, telling me it would explode, and there I was—a blonde girl who didn’t speak Chinese—trying to explain that it wasn’t a real bomb!
