The work was developed during a research residency in Est-Nord-Est (Canada).
It reflects my sense of being torn. In the country I come from, I have spent my entire life hearing that success requires hard work.

The work I was meant to do as part of the residency — artistic research — did not register as “work” to me. I knew that I was working, yet I constantly felt that I was not working enough, or that it was not “real” work.

As a result, I pushed myself into a strange emotional impasse, a state in which I was unable to relax under any circumstances.
